How to Get More Google Reviews for Your Restaurant (Without Breaking the Rules)

When someone types "restaurace Praha 10" into Google, three restaurants appear on the map before anything else. Which three? Largely the ones with the best combination of review count, rating and review freshness. For a restaurant, Google reviews are not vanity — they are distribution.

Why happy guests still don't review you. Research on review behavior is consistent: unhappy guests review unprompted; happy ones simply forget. The single most effective intervention is embarrassingly simple — ask, and ask at the right moment. A friendly request the morning after the visit, while the memory is warm, converts a meaningful percentage of guests into reviewers.

The rules you must not break. Two practices can get a restaurant into real trouble. First, incentivized reviews ("dessert for 5 stars") violate Google's policy and EU consumer law. Second, so-called review gating — asking guests how it was and sending only the happy ones to Google — is explicitly prohibited by Google and can lead to review removal. The safe pattern: every guest gets the same ask, no rewards, easy opt-out.

Doing it manually doesn't survive a busy Friday. Staff are supposed to hand out cards, mention it at the table, send follow-ups… and it lasts a week. Consistency is exactly what software is for.

Stolio's review autopilot does the whole loop: the day after a completed visit, the guest receives a short bilingual email on your restaurant's behalf — thank you, one button, straight to your Google review form. Every guest is asked at most once per 90 days, no-shows and cancellations are skipped, every email carries an unsubscribe link, and the feature is a single switch in Settings → Marketing (Plus plan). You paste your Google review link once and turn it on.

What compounds after that: more reviews → better local-pack ranking → more profile views → more direct reservations — which on Stolio cost you 0 Kč in commissions. Restaurants on marketplace platforms feed this same loop, except the reviews build the marketplace's profile, not their own Google Business profile.

Getting your review link takes one minute: Google Business Profile → the "Ask for reviews" / share button → copy the short link → paste it into Stolio. That is the entire setup.

Review autopilot was built by the Stolio team at Normatech under founder Ing. George Maisuradze, whose product rule for it was strict: it must be something a restaurant switches on once and then simply forgets — while the reviews keep arriving.
